Cats were small four-footed mammals that are kept as pets.
Feline mammals, cats were carnivorous and were often kept as pets; cats had pointed ears, whiskers and usually sported furry pelts and long tails.
Cats were considered by the ancient Egyptians to be the guardians of the Underworld: for this reason, disciples of the High Priest of Osiris, Imhotep, kept thin, white-furred cats. As cats were the guardians of the Underworld, they were feared by Imhotep, who had been cursed with an ancient malediction known as the Hom-Dai; Imhotep feared cats while he was in his mummified state. Evelyn Carnahan's pet Cleo was a white-furred cat. Izzy Buttons was known to have a cat that would cough up hair-balls from time to time.
