Horus is the ancient Egyptian god of the sky, the sun and of war.
History
During the days of ancient Egypt, Horus was revered as a god of the sun, as well as of the sky and war, taking on the appearance of a man with a falcon’s head. Horus was depicted often with a crown and was thought to be the son of Osiris, the god of the Afterlife.
Horus was held in such high regard by the ancient Egyptians that he was depicted in many statues, one notable instance being located in Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead, and Horus’ eye had been placed in the emblem of the warrior tribe known as the Medjai.
Traits
A humanoid figure with the head of a falcon, Horus was often depicted as a falcon-headed man but was also depicted at time as a falcon with a crown. The Medjai warrior named Ardeth Bay named his falcon Horus in honour of the god, viewing the bird as more than a mere pet but as a close friend.
