Snakes were thin, legless reptiles.

Carnivorous, limbless reptiles, snakes appeared in almost all continents and countries worldwide, with varying species: some snakes were equipped with a poisonous bite while others relied on their coils or strength to subdue prey. Snakes often unhinged their jaws when consuming larger creatures. Some snakes, such as asps, were equipped with poison and were used at times as interrogation devices intended to threaten the informant with venom in exchange for information.
